Volunteers

The most successful Scout Groups are those where there is strong adult support and Byron Bay is very fortunate to have a great team of adult volunteers which is what helps to make our group so fantastic!  All our volunteers are enthusiastic and dedicated men and women from all walks of life who share a love of adventure and a desire to enrich young people’s lives.

We are ALWAYS looking for new Leaders and we help you to become one by providing training and support in all aspects of Scouting, youth leadership, programming activities and safety.

Normally, Leaders need to commit to Group meetings one night per week during school term, a monthly Leaders’ meeting, and a few weekends a year for outdoor activities such as hiking and camping trips.

You can undertake training and become an Assistant Leader or a Leader with any of the Sections:

Joey Scouts (6 – 8) (Byron Bay does not have a Joey Section at present, but we can always start one if you're keen to be a Leader...!)

Cub Scouts (7.5 – 11)

Scouts (10.5 – 15)

Venturer Scouts (14.5 – 18)

Rovers (17.5 – 25)

Leader roles vary through the Sections, as youth members take more responsibility for their activities as they progress in age.

Volunteering with 1st Byron Bay Scouts gives you opportunities to:
